Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Cleaner / Kitchen Hand to join the Palm Lake Resort Hervey Bay team. This full-time position (38 hours per week) involves maintaining cleanliness across the resort's communal spaces and assisting with meal preparation on Tuesday lunches and Thursday evenings. Your efforts will be key to ensuring the facilities remain inviting, hygienic, and efficiently organised for residents and visitors alike.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and upkeep of communal areas including the pool room, office, hairdresser, gym, craft room, clubhouse, and library.
• Perform dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, and waste removal tasks.
• Maintain hygienic standards in toilet facilities.
• Clean interior windows and ensure appliances such as refrigerators and microwaves are spotless.
• Keep kitchen spaces tidy by emptying dishwashers and wiping surfaces.
• Restock consumables like coffee and tea.
• Identify and remove potential hazards, such as slippery floors and obstacles, to promote safety.
• Clean model homes and display units for prospective buyers.
• Execute weekly cleaning tasks including wiping light switches, power points, door frames, and removing cobwebs.
• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation and meal service duties.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and dining areas.
• Wash, sanitize, and correctly store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Comply with all food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Support stock rotation and assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries.
• Empty bins and ensure waste is safely and hygienically disposed of.
• Clean food prep areas, refrigerators, ovens, and other kitchen equipment.
• Adhere to workplace health and safety protocols, promptly reporting hazards.

Candidate Profile

• Previous kitchen, café, or catering experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene and safe working standards.
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to high cleaning standards.
• Prior experience in commercial cleaning environments beneficial.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently manage cleaning schedules.
• A positive, proactive attitude dedicated to maintaining the resort's standards.
