Job Summary

As a Cleaner, you will be the personable initial contact for the community and play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of council activities. Reporting to the Town Services Supervisor, your cleaning tasks ensure the council buildings are kept in excellent condition supporting various departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning duties in council facilities including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting desks and tables, emptying bins, and cleaning toilets, including restocking supplies.
  • Clean kitchen areas following use, including morning tea rooms and washing up.
  • Remove insects from lighting fixtures.
  • Clean interior and exterior walls and windows and maintain carpeted areas.
  • Prepare training and function rooms before and after events.
  • Manage equipment inventory before and after functions, reporting missing items promptly.
  • Undertake other duties assigned by the Town Services Supervisor or Director within the scope of skills.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is reliable, motivated, and comfortable working independently in outdoor environments with minimal supervision. You will be physically capable of tasks such as lifting and arranging furniture, and committed to upholding safety and teamwork values. Key personal values include respect, communication, humor, pride, trust, and cooperation.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current General Construction Induction card.
  • Valid Queensland Class C driver's license.
  • Up-to-date tetanus, hepatitis A and B vaccinations, or willingness to obtain them.
  • Capability to operate autonomously.
  • Physical ability to handle lifting and stacking tables and chairs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating commercial cleaning machines such as vacuum polishers and scrubbers is advantageous but not essential.
