Job description
Role Purpose
This position is designed to guarantee that teaching personnel at Durham School for Girls consistently uphold the UK's Teaching Standards while honoring the school's MARK values alongside policies and cultural expectations stipulated by the Qatari Ministry of Education. The class teacher will deliver engaging lessons tailored to diverse student needs, nurture a safe and supportive learning atmosphere, and champion both academic and personal growth. The role includes maintaining professional behavior, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders, and actively participating in the school community. Furthermore, teachers must ensure curriculum, resources, and teaching strategies reflect DSGD/MARK values, local culture, and MOE ethics.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct dynamic lessons aligned with subject standards and learning objectives, supporting diverse learner needs with varied instructional methods and resources.
- Develop or contribute to curriculum design, ensuring alignment with DSGD/MARK and Qatari values and culture.
- Utilize technology and innovative tools to foster active, student-centered learning.
- Provide prompt, constructive feedback on student progress to relevant parties and continuously assess student learning to adapt instruction as necessary.
- Report any planning or resource conflicts with school or cultural values to management immediately.
- Establish and maintain a respectful, inclusive classroom environment promoting positive behavior, collaboration, and diversity appreciation.
- Address individual student needs offering suitable support and accommodations, encouraging participation and critical thinking.
- Encourage student ownership of learning and provide varied student-led learning and assessments, linking curriculum to real-life and career contexts.
- Maintain regular communications with students, parents, and colleagues, using school communication platforms effectively and adhering to deadlines.
- Support student wellbeing, promote positive relationships, address sensitive issues like bullying and mental health, and collaborate with support services as needed.
- Pursue ongoing professional development, stay current with curriculum changes and best practices, engage in reflective and quality assurance activities, and maintain professional conduct.
- Serve as a school ambassador upholding and modeling school values and professionalism in all interactions and community involvement.
- Comply with safeguarding, health and safety policies to ensure student protection and a secure learning environment.
- Implement high-quality teaching and learning practices, promote higher order thinking and personalized learning, and provide SMART, targeted feedback on student progress.
- Integrate Qatari culture and national values within curriculum planning and school initiatives, promoting inclusivity and cultural respect.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and colleagues to ensure curriculum and teaching align ethically with MOE guidelines and community standards.
Additional Information
Teachers are expected to engage fully in the life of the school, including extracurricular activities, events, staff meetings, and professional workshops, always contributing positively and meeting deadlines. They should foster a strong sense of community spirit and help students develop essential life skills. Communication in English is essential, while Arabic language use may be necessary depending on context.
