Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Class 5 heavy vehicle operator to join our General Cartage team located in Invercargill. This hands-on driving position demands a strong commitment to safety, adherence to transport regulations, and consistent delivery of dependable service to clients.
Position Details
- This full-time role operates from Invercargill, with scheduled work hours from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday.
- Hourly compensation ranges from $31.00 to $33.00, contingent on the candidate’s skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate truck and trailer units efficiently and safely as part of the General Cartage team.
- Complete all assigned tasks in compliance with company protocols and NZTA regulations.
- Perform daily vehicle safety inspections and maintain accurate logbooks and driver work-time records.
- Work across various customer sites as required.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a current and valid New Zealand Class 5 Driver Licence.
- Proven experience operating Class 5 heavy vehicles, including truck and trailer units.
- Prior experience within transport, freight, general cartage, or a similar heavy vehicle sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NZTA rules, including logbook and work-time standards.
- Capability to perform mandatory vehicle safety checks proficiently.
- Physical ability to safely undertake the job’s physical demands.
- Strong communication, numeracy, and record-keeping skills.
- Reliable and safety-oriented work ethic.
- Availability to work the required hours between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday to Saturday.
