Civil Site Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Civil Site Engineer to oversee daily tasks on a residential construction site in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The candidate will ensure that building activities comply with design plans and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations at the residential building site.
• Interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings accurately.
• Establish and verify site dimensions, levels, grid lines, and building alignment.
• Oversee reinforced concrete works including footing, columns, beams, slabs, staircases, and shear walls.
• Manage formwork, reinforcement placement, concreting, curing, and shutter removal.
• Verify reinforcement specifications such as size, spacing, lap and development length, coverage, and positioning prior to concreting.
• Coordinate concrete pouring activities and conduct slump and cube tests ensuring adequate vibration.
• Supervise brickwork, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, tiling, painting, and installation of doors and windows.
• Ensure construction complies with approved plans and specifications.
• Inspect workmanship to detect defects or deviations early.
• Liaise with architects, structural and MEP consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Compile daily progress reports and keep detailed site documentation.
• Manage material requirements and organize timely deliveries to prevent delays.
• Monitor labor productivity and allocate workforce as needed.
• Measure completed works for Bill of Quantities, billing, and quantity verification.
• Support quantity estimation and material usage reports.
• Ensure correct storage and handling of construction materials on site.
• Follow approved procedures, method statements, inspection protocols, and quality control.
• Facilitate inspections and obtain necessary clearances before critical tasks.
• Enforce site safety guidelines including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Track construction progress against schedule and report any delays.
• Resolve routine onsite problems, escalating technical issues to senior engineers.
• Maintain records for drawings, revisions, inspections, tests, and site directives.
• Participate in site meetings and provide regular progress updates.
• Coordinate snagging, rectifications, and final handover processes.
