Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to become a key member of our expanding team in Hastings. We welcome both full-time and part-time applicants. This position offers exposure to diverse projects spanning three-waters, transportation, and land/site development. It is ideal for a flexible, resilient professional who enjoys contributing to impactful community projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver projects punctually and within budget while fulfilling client expectations.
  • Maintain open, proactive communication with team members, management, and clients regarding progress and deliverables.
  • Participate throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design concepts through detailed design, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Enhance your technical skills, engineering judgment, design proficiency, and keep abreast of industry advancements and standards.
  • Exhibit strong communication, presentation, networking, and client consultation abilities.
  • Develop and sustain robust client partnerships to foster continuous business opportunities.

Candidate Profile

You are enthusiastic about engineering and problem-solving, enjoy teamwork, and are motivated to deliver infrastructure projects that make a difference. Your mindset is proactive with eagerness to learn and implement practical engineering solutions that meet client needs.

  • At least 4 years’ experience in consulting or construction, principally on infrastructure in three-waters, land development, energy, or transport sectors.
  • Holds a Civil Engineering qualification and is progressing towards Chartered Professional Engineer status with Engineering New Zealand.
  • Experienced in general civil design and construction observation, especially in three-waters or road/transport projects.
  • Proficient in design and modelling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), or 12d.
  • Committed to team success, takes initiative in mentoring junior colleagues to elevate team capabilities.
  • Knowledgeable about local council standards and codes of practice.
  • Experience in asset management, maintenance, or renewal projects highly regarded.
  • Possesses a positive, collaborative attitude and a strong work ethic focused on delivering excellent client results.
