About CD Power Group and Role Overview
CD Power Group, headquartered in Wingfield, South Australia, is a national leader in power solutions, established in Adelaide in 1987. The company specializes in the design, supply, installation, and servicing of diesel and gas generators, battery energy storage systems, and bespoke off-grid and hybrid power solutions, serving sectors such as agriculture, mining, oil and gas, utilities, defence, and community, including operations in Australia's most remote areas.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO), reporting directly to the CEO, will be a key executive player in steering the company's growth and strategic initiatives. This role integrates leadership in finance, commercial partnership, governance, and transformation responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Own and oversee all financial management functions for the Group, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and reporting to management and the Board.
- Manage treasury, taxation, and financial control activities to ensure sound fiscal practices.
- Enhance financial accountability and reporting disciplines across the organization to provide transparent business performance insights.
- Deliver improved visibility into sales, margins, project and service outcomes, work-in-progress (WIP), inventory, cash, and working capital.
- Partner with senior leadership to support informed commercial and strategic decision-making.
- Drive finance transformation through system improvements, automation, and effective use of technology.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) with a minimum of eight years post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in a CFO or Senior Financial Controller role within engineering, industrial, equipment, or project-based services industries.
- Robust skills in financial planning and analysis including budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and project-based financial oversight.
- Expertise in managing inventory, job costing, WIP, and field service operational finance.
- Proficiency in establishing comprehensive reporting dashboards and implementing internal control frameworks.
- Experience in enhancing finance systems and processes, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and data quality.
- Familiarity with accounting and reporting tools such as Xero and Power BI, or their equivalents.
- Strong commercial acumen combined with analytical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across senior teams.
