Chief Accountant

About the Role

Digitus Group seeks a seasoned Chief Accountant to manage accounting and financial operations for its business in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will oversee daily financial activities, ensure adherence to international accounting standards and Saudi regulations, and provide prompt, precise financial reports.

Key Duties

• Direct and supervise daily accounting and finance tasks for the KSA branch.
• Manage comprehensive accounting processes including General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Receivable, fixed assets, accruals, provisions, and reconciliations.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to guarantee accuracy and timeliness.
• Generate monthly financial reports, management summaries, account analyses, and supporting documentation.
• Oversee project accounting functions such as job costing, cost distribution, and financial performance monitoring.
• Track project budgets, actual vs. committed expenditures, Work in Progress, unbilled revenues, retentions, and overall project profitability.
• Ensure revenue recognition complies with IFRS and contractual terms.
• Review project billing, progress invoices, change orders, receivables, collections, supplier payments, and subcontractor transactions.
• Assist with yearly budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and variance evaluation.
• Manage cash needs, working capital, receivables, and project cash flow alongside Group Finance.
• Ensure compliance with Saudi VAT, withholding tax, Zakat, ZATCA, e-invoicing, and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain robust financial controls ensuring transactions are properly authorized, supported, and recorded.
• Liaise with auditors, facilitating timely audit completion.
• Collaborate closely with Projects, Operations, Commercial, Procurement, HR, and other teams on financial matters.
• Provide clear financial analyses to management concerning costs, collections, project performance, and key risks.
• Champion effective use of ERP and accounting software, seeking process and reporting improvements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the local accounting team.
• Serve as the primary contact for financial and accounting matters within the Saudi entity.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including senior or supervisory roles.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting teams or functions.
• Strong background in project-based industries such as contracting, construction, EPC, MEP, ICT infrastructure, telecommunications, or systems integration.
• Expertise in project accounting, job costing, Work in Progress, revenue recognition, billing, retentions, and profitability.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS standards.
• Good understanding of Saudi tax regulations including VAT, withholding tax, Zakat, ZATCA, and e-invoicing.
• Experience with financial reporting, closings, budgeting, reconciliations, cost control, and analytical review.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP platforms is advantageous.
• Professional certifications such as CMA, CPA, ACCA, SOCPA or their equivalents are preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and take full responsibility for the accounting function in KSA.
• Fluent professional proficiency in both English and Arabic.
