Job Purpose
Support the Pastry Chef in the daily crafting, preparation, presentation, and service of premium pastries, desserts, breads, and bakery items, adhering strictly to the hotel's quality, hygiene, and presentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, chocolates, and bakery products following established recipes.
- Ensure all items comply with the hotel’s standards for quality, flavor, texture, and appearance.
- Oversee the assigned pastry section to guarantee efficient and smooth operations.
- Organize mise en place by arranging ingredients, equipment, and workstations effectively.
- Adhere to recipes, portion controls, and production schedules consistently.
- Maintain top-tier hygiene and safety by following HACCP and food safety protocols.
- Track inventory levels and promptly communicate shortages or wastage to the Pastry Chef.
- Properly store, label, date, and rotate ingredients and finished goods.
- Assist with culinary presentations for buffets, banquets, restaurants, room service, and special occasions as needed.
- Help train and supervise junior pastry cooks and kitchen trainees.
- Implement measures to reduce food wastage and control costs effectively.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance requirements immediately.
- Foster a professional, disciplined, and positive working atmosphere within the pastry team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Possess a diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Pastry, or Bakery.
- Have at least 2 to 3 years of pastry experience within a 5-star or luxury hospitality setting.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, chocolate craftsmanship, desserts, and cake decoration.
- Be familiar with HACCP procedures and food safety standards.
- Capable of thriving in a high-pressure, fast-moving hotel kitchen environment.
- Exhibit strong creativity, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
- Have good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
