Job Overview
The Chef de Cuisine will be responsible for maintaining the quality, consistency, and production standards of the restaurant kitchen. This role requires leading kitchen staff, actively participating in culinary tasks, managing menu coordination, purchasing, staffing, and food preparation to enhance guest and employee satisfaction while ensuring adherence to budgets and sanitation standards. Developing and training the culinary team is a core function.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should have either a high school diploma or GED with at least 4 years of relevant experience in culinary arts or food and beverage, or possess a 2-year accredited degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field combined with a minimum of 2 years professional experience in culinary or food and beverage sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement innovative dishes and culinary concepts for the restaurant.
- Supervise kitchen shift operations ensuring compliance with all F&B policies and quality standards.
- Maintain proper food handling, storage, and sanitation standards.
- Identify high-quality ingredients and ensure superior presentation and flavor in dishes.
- Manage food quantities and plating for consistent service delivery.
- Communicate production requirements effectively to relevant personnel.
- Assist in developing and updating daily and seasonal menu items.
- Ensure adherence to all food safety regulations and laws.
- Control food temperatures and proper handling procedures.
- Estimate daily production requirements accurately.
- Prepare and cook a wide range of foods regularly and for special events.
- Conduct quality checks on raw and cooked food items to maintain standards.
- Create appealing food presentations and decorative displays.
Team Leadership
- Oversee activities of cooks and kitchen staff engaged in food preparation.
- Lead and inspire team members using strong interpersonal and communication skills, modeling integrity and sound business judgment.
- Manage daily kitchen operations and fill in for staff as required.
- Build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Set expectations clearly and ensure staff are cross-trained for versatile support.
