Checkout Operator

About the Role

The Checkout Operator position is responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operations within the Checkout Department while delivering outstanding service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Reflect Centra's core values including pride, energy, creativity, and community focus in your work.
• Operate a computerized till system equipped with a barcode scanner.
• Weigh and price fresh produce such as fruits and vegetables accurately.
• Conduct age verification for restricted items like alcohol to comply with regulations.
• Efficiently pack customers’ purchases with care.
• Apply coupons and vouchers during transactions.
• Handle payment processing and ensure the till balances correctly at shift end.
• Contribute to the department by stocking shelves and managing inventory away from the till.
• Maintain high standards of merchandising and presentation within the department consistently.
• Participate actively in team meetings and apply learning to improve operations.

Candidate Profile

• Ideally, candidates will have at least two years' experience working in a retail environment.
• Capable of balancing cash registers accurately.
• Strong communication abilities to engage effectively with customers and team members.
• Prioritizes customers’ needs and demonstrates excellent attention to detail.
• Well-organized, flexible, and able to use own initiative as well as work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
