About the Role
The Caregiver Recruitment and Support Supervisor role involves leading a committed team of social workers dedicated to supporting caregiving whanau across Horowhenua, Manawatu, and Whanganui. You will ensure caregivers feel valued and backed throughout their journey, from application and assessment to training and ongoing support. Leadership includes overseeing best practice implementation, evidence-based decision-making, and providing trusted guidance to social workers.
Responsibilities
- Lead social work teams located in Horowhenua and Whanganui, including traveling between sites with a provided work vehicle.
- Guide social workers through all phases of caregiver support, from recruitment, assessment, and training to sustained assistance.
- Uphold exemplary service delivery aligned with organizational standards.
- Manage complex information to support safe, evidence-based decisions on caregiver assessments and requirements.
- Navigate HR management challenges including coaching, mentoring, and developing team capabilities.
- Foster a service environment ensuring caregiving whānau can deliver optimal care for tamariki and rangatahi.
Requirements
- Recognized social work qualification accredited by New Zealand's Social Work Registration Board (SWRB).
- Full registration and current practicing certificate with SWRB.
- Proven statutory social work knowledge and applied experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience including people management, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Strong relationship-building abilities across diverse communities.
- Valid New Zealand driver's license (a clean record preferred; historical convictions assessed individually).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication proficiency.
- Resilience and capability to work productively under pressure to make impactful differences.
- High cultural competency with confidence working within Te Ao Māori frameworks, understanding of tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti O Waitangi, as well as Pacific peoples’ cultures.

Minimum education
Bachelor's Degree
