Role Overview
The Category Manager will take charge of strategic planning, sourcing, pricing, and the overall performance of assigned product categories. This role demands thorough market research, understanding consumer preferences, and setting clear development goals to position each category competitively and uniquely. The individual will oversee product development from concept through supplier selection to shelf placement.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute strategies for product categories, including selection, assortment planning using planograms, and lifecycle management.
- Engage suppliers for product sourcing and procurement, negotiate terms and prices, and maintain strong supplier relations.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends and implement initiatives that enhance revenue and category growth.
- Develop pricing models and promotional activities to maximize sales and profits, while monitoring competitor pricing strategies.
- Manage inventory by forecasting demand, maintaining optimal stock levels to avoid both shortages and excess.
- Conduct market and competitor analyses to detect growth opportunities and improvement areas.
- Collaborate across departments such as marketing, sales, supply chain, and operations to ensure integrated category strategy execution.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in category management.
- Proven expertise in market research and interpreting analytic data to support decision-making.
- Innovative thinker with strong teamwork capabilities, efficient in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cooperation with internal teams and external vendors.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP enterprise resource planning software.
