Position Overview
The Cashier role at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank encompasses all cash handling and transaction processing responsibilities within a branch environment. This full-time position reports to the Branch Operation Officer and is pivotal in managing daily cash operations per banking policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth branch operations by processing cash transactions and maintaining account records accurately and promptly.
- Oversee cash handling activities including receipt and clearance of instruments such as cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, and pay orders within authorized limits, providing proper acknowledgments.
- Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and accept deposits from customers while making corresponding entries in systemic registers and online platforms.
- Manage repayment collections in accordance with EMI schedules, updating system records accordingly.
- Maintain various branch registers including inward/outward, petty cash, and assets; coordinate requisitions with Regional Head Office.
- Perform daily cash reconciliations to confirm consistency between cash on hand and recorded transactions, compiling end-of-day reports.
- Jointly responsible with the Operations Officer for cash handling and vault management within the branch.
- Engage customers courteously during deposits and disbursements, identifying opportunities to introduce additional bank products.
- Promote alternative banking channels to customers for deposits, withdrawals, and inquiries, enhancing service quality.
- Ensure strict adherence to turnaround times for all cashier-related transactions and compliance with banking regulations and internal policies.
- Authenticate customers to prevent fraud during cash withdrawals and verify the accuracy of deposit slips as per audit standards.
- Update passbooks and manage currency chest deposits including cash bundle processing with relevant documentation.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Graduation degree in any discipline, with preference for finance or commerce-related fields.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in high-volume cash handling and accounting activities.
- Familiarity with financial modules or ERP systems for transactional entries and data consolidation.
- Competent in cash management including identification of counterfeit notes.
- Technically proficient in computer operations and relevant banking software (training will be provided).
- Strong numerical aptitude, multitasking capability, and meticulous attention to detail.

Additional Information
- The cashier handles branch cash, keys, and valuables in collaboration with the Assistant Branch Manager, ensuring secure management of these assets.

- Maintains compliance with all regulations and branch policies related to cashier duties.
