Cashier

Position Overview

Cashiers hold a vital customer service function by delivering quick, courteous, precise, and secure service to customers. They handle transactions such as checkout and returns and also oversee the upkeep of the Self-Checkout stations. Cashiers actively acquire product and project knowledge to inform customers and identify potential sales opportunities. Ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures helps minimize losses due to shrinkage.

Responsibilities

• Operate checkout registers to process purchases and returns promptly and accurately.
• Maintain and monitor the Self-Checkout area for customer ease and security.
• Enhance customer experience by providing informed guidance on products and services.
• Adhere strictly to policies to reduce product shrinkage.

Head Cashier Role

• Allocate cashier shifts and support cashiers in their duties.
• Facilitate expedited price checks and approve transactions, markdowns, across mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
• Serve as first escalation contact for customer concerns at the front end.
• Assist in managing, coaching, and training front end associates, including new cashier onboarding.
• Employ available tools and strategies proactively to guide and develop cashier staff.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Minimum one year experience working as a cashier.
