About the Role

The position of Caseworker is dedicated to delivering expert intervention services aimed at young offenders within the youth justice framework, focusing on minimizing the likelihood of repeat offences.

Key Responsibilities

• Display or develop cultural competency to foster an inclusive environment that respects the Human Rights Act 2019 and bolsters programs along with community initiatives that maintain cultural ties for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Offer advanced strategic and operational human resource advice and consultancy tailored to designated portfolios.
• Operate effectively within statutory parameters balancing oversight of young offenders' adherence to court mandates and implementing interventions addressing factors contributing to recidivism.
• Engage proactively in reducing recidivism through culturally mindful, collaborative, and evidence-supported assessment methods, intervention programs, and restorative justice practices.
• Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team including various internal and external partners to secure beneficial outcomes for affected parties including victims, offenders, families, and the wider community.
• Compile and deliver comprehensive oral and written reports to the Children's Court representing the Chief Executive, including conducting pre- and post-court interviews, drafting pre-sentence reports, affidavits, and necessary documentation to support optimal justice processes for youth.
• Perform diverse case documentation and information management duties such as upkeep of case files, report generation, and data input aligned with policies, procedures, and managerial directives.
• Commit to ongoing professional development through training, supervision, and accreditation aimed at enhancing contributions to organizational objectives.
