Caretaker

Role Overview

This full-time position involves ensuring the smooth and safe functioning of a facility in Chorley by monitoring energy consumption, conducting safety checks, and performing minor maintenance duties as scheduled throughout the year.

Work Schedule and Holidays

The caretaker will work Monday through Friday with shifts from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and again from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM across all 52 weeks. Holiday entitlement will be earned proportionally based on weeks worked.

Primary Duties

• Monitor energy usage regularly and submit meter readings accordingly.
• Perform routine fire system checks adhering to Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) guidelines.
• Conduct monthly inspections of fire doors as part of PPM protocols.
• Record and communicate any repair requirements promptly using the designated helpdesk system.
• Handle minor upkeep tasks such as replacing bulbs, strips, fuses, plugs, unblocking drains, and basic joinery work.

Candidate Requirements

• Must possess the legal Right to Work in the UK.
• Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
• Possession of an IOSH Certificate is preferred, though not mandatory.
• Certification or awareness of Legionella legislation is essential.
• Competence with IT tools including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), smartphones, and helpdesk software is required.
