Caretaker

Overview

Surbiton High School is looking for a dependable and proactive Caretaker to join their team. This full-time, permanent position involves maintaining a safe and inviting environment across 12 school locations. The role includes routine upkeep as well as supporting larger improvement initiatives during school breaks.

Key Duties

• Ensure the safety and security of pupils, staff, and visitors across all school sites.
• Manage opening and closing procedures, emergency responses, and support fire safety protocols.
• Perform minor repairs, general maintenance, and keep school grounds clean and presentable.
• Assist with deliveries, event setup, and coordination with contractors.
• Participate in maintenance and refurbishment projects during school holidays.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in caretaking or maintenance is preferred.
• Hands-on skills with general repairs and maintenance tasks.
• A flexible and positive approach with strong dedication to health and safety standards.
• Effective communication abilities and capacity to work autonomously or collaboratively.
• Basic computer skills and openness to training opportunities including First Aid and machinery operation.
