Careers Advisor

Role Overview

Lift Kingswood is seeking a dedicated Careers Advisor to join their team and help young people navigate meaningful career pathways. This role involves providing personalised career guidance to students, supporting them in planning and achieving positive outcomes related to education, training, or employment.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide individualised one-on-one career guidance, conduct mock interviews, and develop actionable plans to assist students in achieving successful destinations post-Year 11 and Year 13.
• Contribute to the delivery of the school's career guidance programme aligned with Gatsby Benchmarks, including workshops on CV writing, interview skills, and job searching.
• Keep career resources, digital tools, and Labour Market Information (LMI) current, covering further education, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with local employers, universities, colleges, and training providers to facilitate work placements and external opportunities.
• Collaborate with parents, carers, and specialist services (including SEND) to ensure accessible and tailored career support for all students.
• Maintain comprehensive records of career guidance activities and report progress regularly to the Careers Leader and Senior Leadership Team.
• Monitor and assess the career programme's impact through student feedback, surveys, and long-term destination tracking.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

• Possess a Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (or equivalent).
• Have Level 2 qualifications in GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or higher, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience delivering professional career guidance, preferably within secondary schools, colleges, or youth-focused environments.
• Strong knowledge of current Labour Market Information (LMI), post-16 and post-18 education pathways including apprenticeships, further education, higher education, and Gatsby Benchmarks.
• Ability to build rapport with students, communicate effectively in individual and group settings, and adapt approaches to diverse student needs.
• Empathetic, patient, and flexible in supporting a wide range of career interests.
