Role Overview

The Car Evaluator at Spinny will be stationed in Chennai on a full-time, on-site basis. This role involves detailed inspections of used vehicles against strict quality criteria encompassing mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic conditions. The evaluator will perform test drives, verify service histories, and detect any accident-related damage or tampering. Coordination with operations, sales, and pricing teams is essential to provide precise reports and valuations, helping maintain customer confidence and fairness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic vehicle inspections adhering to standardized checklists and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform test drives to assess vehicle performance and detect potential issues.
  • Verify service records and screen for previous accident damage or tampering signs.
  • Document inspection findings clearly and accurately using internal digital systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including operations, sales, and pricing to support vehicle appraisal and customer transparency.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of automotive systems such as engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, and electrical components.
  • Proven experience in vehicle evaluation or servicing environments like automobile workshops or pre-owned car inspections.
  • Expertise in structured evaluations utilizing diagnostic equipment and inspection checklists with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong documentation and reporting capabilities with proficiency in digital data entry.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical information understandably to varied teams.
  • Customer-oriented approach with integrity, ensuring transparent and safe vehicle assessments.
  • Comfortable using mobile applications or software for inspection workflows and records management.
  • Pursuit or possession of a relevant diploma, ITI, or technical certification in automobile engineering or related areas preferred; valid driving license mandatory.
