Role Responsibilities

The Banquet Captain plays a critical role in coordinating service needs between kitchen leaders and waitstaff during receptions. Responsibilities include tallying group reception charges and preparing payment checks for group contacts. Ensuring banquet rooms, restaurants, and coffee breaks are ready and available for service, and arranging centerpieces on every table is essential. The Captain must inspect the cleanliness and presentation of porcelain, glassware, and silverware before use. Ensuring guests' satisfaction during events and setting up tables in accordance with the event type and service standards are part of daily duties. The Captain communicates any special requests such as extra food orders, allergies, and dietary needs to the kitchen, while maintaining cleanliness in work areas throughout the day.

Safety and Professional Standards

Compliance with all company safety policies and procedures is mandatory. The Captain must report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries promptly and complete required safety training and certifications. Personal appearance and uniform shall be neat and professional at all times. Maintaining confidentiality of company information and protecting property is required. Supporting coworkers by treating them with dignity and respect, assisting the team to meet collective goals, and adhering to quality assurance standards are expected. The Captain will greet and acknowledge guests per company standards, communicate professionally, handle phone calls with proper etiquette, and respond appropriately to employee concerns. Additional reasonable duties may also be assigned by supervisors.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Secondary education diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisory role.
  • No specific licenses or certifications required.
