About the Role
Join the team at James Wattie Retirement Village in Havelock North as a Baker combined with Cafe Assistant duties. This full-time position runs Sunday to Thursday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. You will be responsible for baking and preparing a variety of cabinet food items to delight residents and guests, managing the cafe service including operating the till, stock control, and adhering to food safety standards. Creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for residents, their relatives, and visitors is a key part of this role.
Responsibilities
- Bake and cook a broad range of cabinet food and treats
- Deliver quality food and beverage service in the cafe
- Handle till operations and stock management efficiently
- Comply with all food safety protocols and standards
- Promote a caring and hospitable environment within the village
Candidate Profile
- Practical experience in baking and general cookery
- Capable of working independently while maintaining high standards
- Excellent customer service abilities and effective communication skills
- Demonstrates strong empathy and a friendly, professional demeanor
- Barista skills are an advantageous bonus

- An additional $2.50 per hour is paid for every hour worked during weekends
