Role Overview

We are recruiting a CAD/BIM Technician to join our head office in Kilcolgan, Galway. This role involves detailed technical tasks, problem-solving, and collaboration within an engineering team, focusing on producing precise CAD drawings, BIM models, and project documentation specifically for civil engineering and water/wastewater infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D BIM models for civil engineering projects, including reinforced concrete, mechanical and electrical systems, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.
• Translate sketches, calculations, survey data, and design briefs into accurate drawings and models.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and surveyors to understand design needs and coordinate project information.
• Use tools such as Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection and model coordination.
• Adhere to project standards, BIM protocols, health and safety rules, and internal quality procedures.
• Organize design files, update drawing registers, manage revisions, and maintain archives.
• Support project documentation processes including quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, BIM, CAD, or related areas.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar CAD/BIM technician role.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
• Sound understanding of engineering drawings, design coordination, and document control.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality in work outputs.
• Effective communication abilities, teamwork, and strong organizational skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and meeting deadlines.

Preferred Skills

• Experience using Civil 3D and Autodesk Navisworks software.
• Background in water, wastewater, utilities, or heavy civil engineering projects.
• Familiarity with BIM standards such as ISO 19650.
