Job Summary
The role of CAD Operator / Geomatics Technician involves creating precise survey drawings and plans using CAD tools. Working alongside surveyors and project managers, the candidate will process field data and prepare legal, topographic, and engineering plans essential for construction and land claim projects. This position demands technical drafting expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to jurisdictional standards and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop construction and engineering survey plans utilizing CAD software.
- Create legal survey, topographic, bathymetric, and construction layout drawings with accuracy.
- Use CAD software, particularly AutoCAD Civil 3D, to produce detailed technical drawings under project supervision.
- Process and convert GPS and total station field data, along with field notes and sketches, into survey plans.
- Coordinate architectural, engineering, and legal plans for field layout integration.
- Verify that drawings comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Calculate anchor bolt and plate specifications accurately from PDF sources.
- Collaborate effectively with project teams to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality controls are met.
- Maintain professional client and team relationships.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary credentials in Geomatics or CAD from a recognized institution are preferred.
- 3 to 5+ years of practical experience in drafting or geomatics, with knowledge of civil surveying.
- Familiarity with legal and engineering plan requirements.
- Proficient use of AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential.
- Experience with CAD mapping and GIS software is advantageous.
