Job description
Overview
This position involves skilled woodworking in a custom cabinet and millwork shop environment. Candidates are expected to operate various woodworking machinery and work onsite in Mississauga, Ontario.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate woodworking equipment including power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers to accurately cut and shape parts.
- Interpret plans, specifications, and drawings to construct accurate furniture and cabinetry.
- Trim and fit parts and subassemblies meticulously to assemble completed units and reinforce joints.
- Sand surfaces and apply veneers, stains, polishes, or laminated plastics to finished pieces.
- Keep the workspace clean and maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous woodworking or cabinetmaking experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Employment is strictly onsite at the physical workshop location, with no remote working option.
- Must possess good manual dexterity and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods while working.
Tools and Personal Traits
- Steel-toed safety boots are required for safety compliance.
- Attributes such as accuracy, organizational skills, efficiency in interpersonal communication, and teamwork are essential.
