Our products are utilized globally by creators in film, television, and live broadcasting. Our Global Headquarters in South Melbourne houses our entire operation including design, engineering, and manufacturing. Since our inception in 2001, we have been innovating high-performance digital cinema technology used worldwide, from Hollywood to YouTube content creation.
Role Overview
We are seeking a mid-level C++ Engineer with a strong foundation in GPU and systems programming to enhance our real-time video processing tools. This position demands close collaboration with the OS and graphics stack across multiple desktop platforms including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain GPU-accelerated C++ applications targeting desktop operating systems.
- Design, implement, and optimize real-time rendering, compute, and color processing pipelines utilizing APIs such as Metal, Vulkan, and DirectX.
- Perform profiling and tuning of GPU workloads, focusing on throughput, latency, and memory bandwidth within demanding real-time video pipelines.
- Acquire and apply understanding of GPU drivers, kernel-level components, and system services bridging hardware with applications.
- Create and enhance internal GPU toolkits and rendering frameworks to support cross-platform development for other teams.
- Interface with OS- and GPU vendor-specific APIs for device input/output, memory management, thread/process management, and hardware communication.
- Troubleshoot GPU and platform-specific issues spanning Windows, macOS, and Linux environments, including driver installation and system integration nuances.
- Partner with hardware engineering teams to integrate new GPU and video hardware, ensuring robust OS-level communication and performance.
- Contribute through the entire product lifecycle from early prototyping to final release.
Required Qualifications
- Several years of professional experience with modern C++ standards (C++11/14/17).
- Practical experience with at least one major GPU API (Metal, Vulkan, or DirectX) in a high-performance production environment.
- Proven ability to work at the OS/systems level on at least two desktop platforms among Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Understanding of GPU drivers, low-level system services, or kernel extensions.
- Comfort with low-level APIs such as Win32/WDK, IOKit/DriverKit, Linux kernel modules, or udev alongside graphics APIs.
- Experience developing or maintaining GPU tools, SDKs, or internal rendering toolkits accessible by multiple engineering teams.
- Strong focus on shipping quality software with attention to real-time performance and stability.
- Bonus skills include compute shaders, color science/image processing, Qt framework, Python scripting, or mobile GPU development on iOS/Android.
Why Join Us
- Work on GPU-accelerated tools that are integral to creative professionals worldwide.
- Engage deeply with system-level and rendering architecture foundational to our products.
- Collaborate within a dynamic, multidisciplinary engineering team committed to hands-on development.
- Be based onsite at our advanced South Melbourne headquarters featuring in-house design, prototyping, and manufacturing.
- Join a culture that prioritizes squeezing maximum hardware performance through expert engineering.
