Job description

About Medius

Medius is dedicated to transforming finance through strategic innovation rather than stress. Established in Sweden in 2001, Medius has evolved from a local startup to a global authority in cloud-based spend management, trusted by thousands worldwide to streamline accounts payable and financial processes. The company culture fosters problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration, leveraging Artificial Intelligence to reduce manual tasks and empower future finance teams.

Our core values illustrate our collaborative spirit: Connect, fostering mutual respect and shared goals; Question, embracing challenges and diverse viewpoints; and Own, maintaining thoroughness, foresight, and reliability to ensure customer success.

Role Overview

This position involves managing an assigned territory focused on mid-market and enterprise accounts, targeting finance and accounting leaders. Key metrics prioritize quality engagement and pipeline durability over sheer activity volume. This role serves as a stepping stone to more senior sales positions within Medius.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of a defined account book segmented by industry or region, crafting actionable engagement strategies.
  • Utilize tools like ZoomInfo, Cognism, 6sense, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator to research prospects and identify needs before reaching out.
  • Efficiently prioritize accounts based on fit and intent, maintaining up-to-date territory tracking to ensure ongoing engagement.
  • Execute multichannel outreach employing phone, email, LinkedIn, and video to connect with Controllers, AP Directors, Accounting leaders, and IT decision-makers.
  • Customize communications around authentic business rationales, such as ERP migrations, acquisitions, or working capital objectives.
  • Conduct meaningful discovery conversations to understand customer purchase processes, pain points, and costs.
  • Handle objections tactfully, qualifying leads rigorously and documenting opportunities to enable effective account executive handoffs.
  • Respond promptly and thoroughly to inbound marketing qualified leads (MQLs).
  • Collaborate closely with Account Executives on joint account plans, target lists, and defining qualification criteria.
  • Ensure seamless meeting transitions with confirmed details and shared context, and seek continuous feedback for improvement.
  • Maintain and nurture accounts even if initial meetings do not convert immediately.
  • Keep Salesforce records accurate and complete, managing contacts, activities, dispositions, and next steps to support pipeline decisions.
  • Develop and optimize outreach sequences based on personal results rather than static approaches.
  • Monitor personal conversion metrics and be prepared to identify areas for testing and improvement during one-on-one reviews.
  • Incorporate AI tools judiciously to enhance research and drafting without over-reliance for sending communications.

Qualifications

  • Between one and three years in sales development, business development, or a similar outbound sales role demonstrating consistent achievement of meetings-based goals.
  • Proven ability to engage cold prospects comfortably by phone with verifiable successful outcomes.
  • Excellent written skills capable of crafting concise, credible, and personalized emails to senior finance contacts without depending on templates.
  • Proficient with CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce, and sales engagement software such as Outreach or Salesloft.
  • A genuine curiosity about business financial operations; an accounting background is not compulsory but an interest in AP team functionalities is essential.
  • Demonstrated coachability with examples of critical feedback received and applied changes.
  • Strong resilience with a clear strategy for handling frequent rejections and maintaining momentum.
  • Disciplined time management skills to focus on high-impact activities amid competing demands.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous sales experience targeting finance, accounting, or procurement stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with fintech, ERP, procure-to-pay or source-to-pay domains, or related B2B SaaS.
  • Knowledge of prospecting and intent data tools such as ZoomInfo, Cognism, 6sense, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or Vidyard.
  • Understanding ERP systems including NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and Oracle, particularly regarding ERP migrations.
  • Experience providing mentorship or onboarding assistance to new team members.

Additional Information

Medius promotes fair and equitable compensation determined by skill, experience, qualifications, and location, with potential for variable bonuses and comprehensive benefits including healthcare, paid leave, and retirement options. The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and offers accommodations during hiring for disabilities or religious practices.
