Job description

Company Overview

Medius is a global leader in cloud-based spend management solutions, founded in Sweden in 2001. Their mission is to simplify finance management by leveraging AI to streamline accounts payable and reduce manual work for finance teams globally. With a collaborative, meritocratic culture and supportive leadership, Medius thrives on innovation and values that emphasize connection, questioning, and ownership.

Role Summary

The Business Development Representative II (BDR II) at Medius is responsible for owning and developing a sales territory within the UK, particularly London and Manchester areas, by engaging mid-market and enterprise accounts. This is a quality-focused role prioritizing meaningful pipeline creation and conversion from conversations to meetings, with clear growth opportunities toward Senior BDR, Account Executive, and Manager roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a defined book of accounts within assigned regions or industries, creating strategic plans for penetration based on research using sales intelligence tools.
  • Conduct multi-channel outbound prospecting via phone, email, LinkedIn, and video to reach finance and accounting decision-makers, tailoring outreach with relevant business context.
  • Lead credible discovery conversations to understand prospect needs and challenges in their current finance and accounts payable processes.
  • Handle objections on timing, budget, or systems with tact, qualifying leads rigorously and ensuring detailed information is complete for seamless handoff to Account Executives.
  • Collaborate closely with Account Executives on joint planning, account targeting, meeting preparation, and following up on opportunities to maintain ongoing engagement.
  • Maintain precise and current Salesforce records, manage outreach sequences proactively based on results, and monitor conversion metrics to optimize performance.
  • Leverage AI tools judiciously to enhance research and draft communications while ensuring quality and personalization.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience in sales development or equivalent outbound sales roles with a proven track record of consistently achieving meeting-based targets.
  • Proficiency in cold outreach, including effective phone communication with unprompted contacts.
  • Strong written communication skills, capable of crafting concise, credible messages without heavy template reliance.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce and sales engagement platforms like Outreach or Salesloft.
  • A genuine curiosity about financial business operations and an interest in understanding accounts payable teams, without necessarily requiring an accounting background.
  • Demonstrable coachability with examples of adapting based on feedback.
  • Resilience to handle frequent rejection and a strategic approach to time management to focus on impactful activities.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience selling to finance, accounting, or procurement professionals.
  • Background in fintech, ERP, procure-to-pay, source-to-pay, or related B2B SaaS industries.
  • Experience with prospecting and intent data tools like ZoomInfo, Cognism, 6sense, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or Vidyard.
  • Understanding of ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or Oracle and the impact of ERP migrations on finance teams.
  • Experience onboarding or mentoring new team members.

Compensation and Culture

Compensation is competitively determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, certifications, internal equity, and geographic location. Additional benefits include variable pay options like bonuses or commissions, medical and dental insurance, paid time off, and retirement plans when eligible.

Medius is committed to equitable employment practices and encourages diversity and inclusion. Reasonable accommodations are provided as needed during hiring processes for disabilities or religious requirements.

Additional Information

  • Locations include London and Manchester with a hybrid work model.
  • The role reports to the Global Head of Talent Acquisition.
  • This job is part of the EMEA sales department, emphasizing a diverse, global team culture.
  • Employees enjoy an open organizational culture valuing trust, direct communication, and opportunities to connect with leadership at all levels.
