Role Overview
The Business Development Representative role is part of Happl's Go-To-Market team and involves collaborating closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Leadership teams. You will serve as the initial point of contact between Happl and potential clients by identifying prospective companies and initiating conversations with key decision-makers such as HR and Finance leaders. Your work will build a robust sales pipeline, enabling Happl's continued growth and enabling organizations to improve how they support their workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the top segment of Happl's sales funnel by generating high-quality leads that drive the company’s growth.
- Identify and engage ambitious organizations ready to modernize their employee benefits offerings.
- Initiate meaningful discussions with HR, Finance, and executive stakeholders at fast-growing and enterprise-level companies.
- Develop strategic target account lists and execute thoughtful, targeted outreach campaigns.
- Create engagement opportunities across various channels including calls, emails, LinkedIn, events, and innovative outbound initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Account Executives to turn leads into customers.
- Become a subject matter expert on Happl's products, market trends, and client challenges.
- Utilize modern GTM tools, data analytics, and AI technologies to optimize efficiency and outcomes.
- Provide valuable market feedback to the product and executive teams to help refine GTM strategies and positioning.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years experience in roles such as Business Development Representative, Sales Development Representative, sales, or other client-facing positions; experience in SaaS or startup environments is advantageous.
- Highly driven, ambitious, and passionate about contributing to an early-stage company's growth.
- Strong communication skills with confidence in engaging senior-level stakeholders, including HR, Finance, and leadership.
- Eager learner, open to feedback, and curious about sales practices, startups, and the employee benefits market.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for details and follow-through.
- Proficient in using contemporary tools such as CRMs, LinkedIn, email platforms, and AI tools like ChatGPT.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership over outcomes.
- Aspirations to advance into Account Executive or other senior commercial positions as career progresses.

Additional Details
This position is hybrid with a requirement to work from the office in London (Waterloo) at least 2–3 days per week. The recruitment process includes multiple interview stages: a 20-minute introductory call with the COO & Chief of Staff, a 30-minute deep dive with the Chief Commercial Officer, a short task, and a 30-minute final deep dive with the CEO & Founder.
