Job description

Role Overview

Seeking a Business Development Manager eager to take on a role that offers genuine independence, uncapped earnings potential, and a product with strong market credibility. At Citation HR, our trusted HR advisory services and the award-winning enableHR platform support over 12,000 businesses throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the sales pipeline independently from start to finish by proactively discovering and qualifying new business opportunities across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Deliver engaging product demonstrations tailored to prospects’ unique challenges, showcasing our HR solutions and enableHR platform.
  • Generate a substantial portion of your own sales leads; this is a proactive hunter position rather than simply managing pre-existing leads.
  • Create precise, commercially viable proposals, pricing models, and contracts that align with customer needs.
  • Represent Citation HR and enableHR at industry events, webinars, and trade shows to expand networks and enhance brand presence.
  • Gather market insights and customer feedback to inform and influence the broader Citation Group’s go-to-market strategies.

Candidate Profile

  • Have 3 to 5 years experience in a Business Development Manager role.
  • Proven background in SaaS or technology sales, ideally within payroll or HR technology sectors.
  • Strong proficiency with Salesforce; familiarity with HubSpot is advantageous but not required.
  • Demonstrate strong hunter mentality: self-motivated, target-focused, and enthusiastic about securing new clients.
  • Use a consultative sales approach, building trust by thoroughly understanding client needs to deliver optimal solutions.
  • Comfortable engaging with C-suite and senior executives and adept at negotiating complex deals successfully.

Why Work at Citation Group?

  • Flexible work arrangements supporting a real work-life balance.
  • Competitive remuneration package including base salary plus uncapped commission.
  • Paid parental leave up to 12 weeks highlighting our commitment to family values.
  • Birthday leave so employees can enjoy their special day without working.
  • Annual paid volunteer day to support charitable causes important to employees.
  • Reward and recognition programs featuring meaningful rewards such as trips, not just gift cards.
  • Opportunity for significant career progression as the company plans to triple in size.
  • Culture built on high trust allowing autonomy and empowerment.
