Role Overview

Reporting to the General Manager (New Zealand) and based in Auckland, this role focuses on expanding commercial business by engaging with architects, interior designers, major project stakeholders, key end users, and developers. The incumbent will nurture existing client relationships, uncover new business opportunities, and lead projects from initial specification through quotation, negotiation, and successful sale conversion.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive growth in commercial specification sales.
• Manage and develop relationships with architects, designers, developers, property groups, hospitality operators, government organizations, and other important clients.
• Identify early-stage projects and influence product specifications and selections.
• Deliver presentations showcasing commercial flooring products and custom design options.
• Expand the customer base and identify new business prospects.
• Oversee projects through specification, quotation, and the conversion stages.
• Maintain an accurate sales pipeline using CRM software.
• Track major projects, market activities, and emerging design trends.
• Participate in industry events and networking opportunities.
• Collaborate with New Zealand team members and international manufacturing partners.
• Travel nationally as needed to support business development activities.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum five years of experience in commercial sales, specification, or business development.
• Established relationships in architecture, design, or commercial interiors sectors.
• Thorough understanding of the commercial specification process.
• Experience in flooring (soft and/or hard flooring) is preferred, or relevant experience in commercial interiors such as textiles, furniture, or lighting.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong ability to influence key decision-makers and close opportunities.
• Solid commercial awareness, organizational skills, and personal responsibility.
• Proficient in CRM and Microsoft Office applications; experience with Salesforce is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently from a home office while actively contributing as part of a small team.
• Possession of a full New Zealand driver’s license and legal right to work in New Zealand.
