Role Overview

The Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with the Head of Growth and DAU to cultivate a strategically targeted sales funnel. This role demands building and sustaining prominent strategic relationships across New Zealand's corporate and commercial sectors, engaging directly with senior leaders such as C-suite executives, board members, directors, and other pivotal decision makers.

Key activities include evaluating client needs, cooperating with the GM Growth Operations and GM Client Experience to position Aon as the preferred insurance partner, and championing the integration and continued use of Aon Connect tools within growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute a business development strategy aligned with Aon's growth and client satisfaction goals in partnership with various senior leaders.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to uncover new markets and client requirements.
  • Forge and sustain influential relationships within NZ and APAC's senior business community to spot emerging opportunities.
  • Develop expertise in Aon's products, innovations, and thought leadership to effectively communicate value propositions and anticipate client objectives.
  • Provide actionable insights to the Head of Growth and DAU to shape NZ strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with Aon Connect, Bid Management, and Client Experience teams to maintain accurate prospect databases, craft compelling client documentation, and apply established sales enablement methods.
  • Serve as a leading advocate for Aon Connect and DAU, embodying and promoting Aon's 3x3 strategy.
  • Leverage data analytics to support pipeline growth and informed decision making.
  • Partner with client servicing teams to deliver impactful presentations and analyses for new business opportunities.
  • Drive change management initiatives for adopting novel approaches in a growth-focused environment.
  • Foster a workplace culture emphasizing health, safety, and well-being, ensuring risks are managed and incidents addressed timely.
  • Promote a robust risk management framework compliant with legal and regulatory mandates to ensure excellent client outcomes.
  • Lead effective communication strategies that align the team with organizational purpose, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Champion an engaged, inclusive workforce through proactive engagement and leadership to empower and value colleagues.
  • Develop succession plans and talent pipelines aligned with organizational needs, sustaining a culture of accountability and performance management.
  • Participate as part of the general management leadership team, encouraging enterprise-wide collaboration and a unified mindset.
  • Advance the Delivering Aon United initiative, reinforcing client leadership and fostering cooperation with global and regional colleagues.
  • Contribute to the formation and execution of Aon NZ's comprehensive strategy and operational plans, managing resources, budgets, and priorities holistically.
  • Represent and uphold Aon's brand and reputation, inspiring trust among clients, regulators, and partners.
