Company Background
PropellWorks, through entities like Ashhurst Engineering & Construction, has deep and enduring ties within New Zealand's electricity sector. The company has extensive capabilities covering engineering, fabrication, mechanical services, maintenance, and major project delivery. It promotes a practical and close-knit environment with accessible leadership and proven delivery expertise.
Key Responsibilities

- Identify broader business opportunities arising from customer needs and coordinate the appropriate internal teams to provide unified responses.
- Engage in joint senior-level customer interactions with management when it can advance opportunities, while maintaining ownership of commercial outcomes.
- Lead a small geographically spread team, providing mentorship, guidance, and accountability while staying actively involved with customer engagement.
- Travel regularly across New Zealand, supported by a company vehicle.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in business development, key account management, sales, or commercial exposure through engineering, operations, or project delivery roles.
- Established relationships within New Zealand’s energy, infrastructure, or industrial markets.
- A successful track record of turning qualified pipelines into secured and profitable contracts.
- Technical expertise with sound commercial judgment regarding margins, risks, and contracts.
- Capability to lead remote teams while maintaining close contact with customers and opportunities.
Additional Information
The ultimate goal is to position the company as a primary partner customers consult at the earliest stages of engineering challenges, converting that trust into sustainable profitable work. Applicants must hold current New Zealand work rights. For a confidential conversation or to apply, candidates should prepare a cover letter highlighting their achievements and relevant experience.
