Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive Business Development Executive to secure businesses with regular international supplier payment needs. This role involves hunting and closing deals: finding businesses that pay overseas suppliers frequently, acquiring their business, guiding them through onboarding, and encouraging repeat transactions. You will manage the commercial relationship from initial contact through activation, supported on larger deals.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and prospect businesses such as importers, distributors, wholesalers, and manufacturers who have frequent international payment requirements.
- Build a robust sales pipeline from scratch using cold outreach, referrals, industry contacts, trade associations, and events.
- Analyze prospects' payment routes, currencies, transaction frequency, volumes, current payment providers, and pain points.
- Evaluate prospects for business suitability and regulatory compliance readiness.
- Present the company's international payment, foreign exchange, and settlement solutions tailored to client needs.
- Manage commercial negotiations and close deals, escalating complex cases when necessary.
- Collaborate with Compliance teams to efficiently onboard clients through KYB processes.
- Encourage clients to complete initial transactions, viewing onboarding as a step toward active use rather than the end.
- Grow client relationships into recurring business, increasing transaction volume and market share over time.
- Maintain up-to-date records in CRM and sales systems.
- Coordinate with Treasury/OTC teams on pricing and deal execution within approved commercial guidelines.
- Provide feedback on customer needs, market opportunities, competitors, and pricing to internal teams.
Candidate Profile
- 2 to 5 years of experience in B2B sales or business development, especially in payments, foreign exchange, fintech, corporate banking, trade finance, remittance, or related domains.
- Proven track record of generating new business from cold prospects and successfully converting them into paying customers.
- Comfortable with cold outreach, persistent sales follow-up, and commercial negotiations.
- Knowledge of international payment processes and challenges faced by importers when paying overseas suppliers.
- Ability to confidently discuss transaction volumes, FX pricing, payment corridors, settlement timetables, and onboarding steps with business and finance stakeholders.
- Strong commercial acumen with a focus on revenue growth.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of working independently with full ownership of targets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established contacts with importers, distributors, manufacturers, freight forwarders, or trade associations.
- Experience selling cross-border payment, foreign exchange, treasury, or trade finance solutions.
- Network of business owners, financial managers, or treasury decision-makers.
- Familiarity with B2B cross-border payment processes.
