Job description
Role Overview
This position of Business Development Account Executive is focused on generating new revenue for Pluralsight by actively hunting for new clients, building a sales pipeline from scratch, and growing our presence within high-potential existing accounts. It is ideal for an individual who thrives on proactive prospecting, persistent follow-up, and converting untapped territory into successful sales. You will independently manage your portfolio and have the freedom to devise your own strategies to achieve success.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive growth through acquiring new business within assigned white-space accounts and expanding in accounts with prior spend, guiding the full sales process from lead generation through closing.
- Create and implement personalized territory and account plans, prioritizing opportunities to maximize revenue.
- Engage in relentless prospecting to discover new clients and deepen current relationships, favoring a hunter approach that creates new opportunities.
- Analyze and comprehend customer business goals, technological priorities, and talent strategies, aligning Pluralsight’s value to become a strategic partner in tech skills development.
- Expertly apply the Pluralsight sales methodology, including frameworks like MEDDPICC, to navigate complex deals and ensure repeatable wins.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as business development reps, customer success, marketing, product, and sales engineering to accelerate deal progress.
- Manage intricate sales cycles end-to-end with enterprise customers, from initial contact through contract signing.
- Be willing to travel and meet customers in person as needed to build relationships and advance sales.
Experience and Skills Required
- A minimum of 7 years in business development or new-business sales, ideally selling complex SaaS solutions to enterprise clients through multi-stakeholder approaches.
- A proven hunter mentality with a history of establishing pipelines from zero, acquiring new clients, and exceeding targets of $1M+, including deals over $200k involving multiple decision makers.
- Experience engaging senior executives such as C-suite leaders, technology heads, and talent managers.
- Familiarity with MEDDPICC or similar value-based sales frameworks for managing complex customer engagements.
- Background in SaaS and enterprise software sales; experience in educational technology is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills enabling clear and engaging delivery of complex ideas.
- A self-driven approach, comfortable creating organizational processes when none exist and independently managing success without extensive supervision.
Additional Requirements and Information
- Hybrid work model requiring attendance at the Dublin office three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday) and remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
- Variable travel requirements depending on role, potentially up to 40%, based on business demands.
Why Join Pluralsight?
- Enjoy full accountability for your territory, with freedom to design your way to surpassing quotas.
- Work within a blended culture that balances teamwork, flexibility, and connection across the company.
- Contribute to a mission-driven organization that is shaping the future of technology skill development globally.
- Be part of an inclusive culture promoting belonging, growth, and the opportunity to learn continuously.
- Receive competitive compensation with bonus opportunities, comprehensive medical benefits, unlimited paid time off, wellness reimbursements, and professional development funding.
