Job description
About the Company
Join a well-established New Zealand organisation recognized for its substantial scale across North Island field operations, notable operational complexity, strong core values, and a firm dedication to sustainability and ongoing improvement. This is a workplace where effective execution is critical and influential operational leaders make a significant difference.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Executive General Manager (EGM), the Business Delivery Manager bridges the gap between strategic planning and operational execution. This role involves actively driving initiatives sponsored by the executive team from inception through completion. Close collaboration with leaders is essential to tackle operational challenges affecting performance and to enhance accountability and clarity in divisional commitments.
The position operates autonomously with a wide scope, covering operations, finance, fleet, and supporting functions. It suits someone who thrives on transforming directives into actionable plans within a complex and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert EGM priorities into defined plans, timelines, and responsibilities, ensuring resolution and delivery.
- Serve as the initial point for incoming correspondence and requests, discerning those needing EGM attention versus delegation.
- Lead projects endorsed by the EGM from planning to delivery, coordinating across functions and regions.
- Proactively identify and address operational challenges impacting costs, productivity, or service quality.
- Prepare professional executive-level materials, including board reports, briefing notes, and executive leadership team presentations.
- Manage data and information gathering for industry engagements, annual reviews, and board reporting.
- Support the development and organization of divisional leadership meetings, handling agendas, preparatory documents, and follow-up actions.
- Maintain an overview of ongoing initiatives, identify risks, and determine where executive involvement is needed.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated success in delivering results within multifaceted operational settings involving numerous stakeholders.
- Strong commercial insight, understanding the drivers behind costs, productivity, and service.
- Experience leading cross-department initiatives independently with confidence.
- Excellent executive-level written communication skills, capable of producing board-level documentation and briefings.
- Comfortable working under fast-paced, ambiguous conditions with multiple priorities.
- Previous roles in operations, commercial areas, or project delivery are highly valued.
- Background in transport, logistics, waste management, or field-based operations is a plus but not mandatory.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a decisive and results-driven operator who swiftly turns identified problems into actionable solutions without waiting for direction. They do not allow complexity to impede progress, possess commercial acuity, clarify ambiguity for others, and maintain resilience in overcoming challenges. Trustworthy and reliable, they consistently ensure follow-through on critical tasks. This role blends operational, commercial, and strategic responsibilities and may suit professionals from operational management, project management office, commercial, or company secretarial backgrounds.
Benefits and Opportunities
- Position based in East Tamaki
- High level of autonomy with direct interaction and exposure to the EGM and executive leadership
- Influence extending across operations, finance, fleet management, and people functions
- Exceptional opportunity to enhance skills, gain experience, and advance your career in a progressive and innovative New Zealand enterprise
