You will contribute to various technical projects that aid in transforming the justice system and generating meaningful real-world impact.

About the Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice is unique in New Zealand's public sector as it serves across all three branches of government: executive, legislature, and judiciary. Our work encompasses delivering court services for all levels of courts and tribunals, leading justice sector collaboration with agencies such as Police and Department of Corrections, facilitating historical Treaty of Waitangi negotiations, and providing legal aid for those unable to afford legal representation.

Role Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive requirements elicitation and analysis across projects.
  • Document processes and translate business needs into feasible technical solutions.
  • Support implementation of these technical solutions effectively.
  • Lead stakeholder conversations to drive optimal outcomes and deliver business value.

  • Strong at managing relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including facilitating workshops.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft enterprise technologies such as M365 SharePoint, Teams, Azure DevOps, and Power Platform.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Ability to plan and monitor benefit realisation effectively.
  • Critical thinking mindset combined with a proactive, collaborative work style.
  • Understanding and application of service design principles.
  • Experience in delivering digital solutions using varied project management methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, and Lean.

While no candidate is expected to meet every criterion perfectly, diverse experiences that can add value are welcomed.

Work Environment and Values

The Digital team, specifically within the Web & Centralised Services, supports and delivers digital platforms essential to multiple ministry functions including legal aid, public defence, contact centers, and collections. We embrace inclusivity and diversity, fostering a safe and supportive workplace that values respect and celebrates differences.
