About the Role
Join Brisbane City Council's Public Transport Services as a Bus Assistant working a night shift (6pm-2am) from Monday to Friday at our Willawong depot. This full-time position involves supporting the operation, upkeep, and servicing of buses and depot vehicles to ensure smooth fleet operations and public safety.
Responsibilities
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining buses and depot vehicles to high standards.
- Operate depot vehicles, help with parking, and provide yard signalling support.
- Conduct basic vehicle inspections and carry out minor repairs such as tyre changes under guidance.
- Manage fuelling and oil level checks for buses.
- Accurately record fuel and oil consumption in the system.
- Collaborate closely with team members and adhere to established safety and operational procedures.
- Handle routine administrative tasks and ensure timely completion of assigned work.
Requirements
- Possession of a Heavy Rigid (HR) licence is mandatory.
- Ability to work night shifts from 6pm to 2am, Monday through Friday.
- Commitment to maintaining workplace safety and quality standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Additional Information
This role is part of the Engineering and Asset Management Branch which oversees maintenance policies, fleet asset procurement, incident investigations, and IT coordination within Public Transport Services. The position offers a salary at BUSASST Level 3: $1,335.60 base per week plus 14% superannuation and allowances for full-time employment (38 hours/week).
A pre-employment medical assessment is required to confirm fitness for the role.
