The Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board oversees the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in Plainfield, Indiana, setting training requirements for law enforcement officers statewide.

This role entails working as a Building Custodian within the ILEA's Housekeeping Department, responsible for cleaning and minor upkeep to maintain academy facilities in a healthful, safe, and sanitary condition. Reporting to the Building Custodian Supervisor, this position emphasizes quality custodial management and support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the proper use and handling of custodial supplies and equipment.
  • Organize daily work schedules to fulfill immediate tasks and long-term goals efficiently.
  • Lead, train, and support other custodial staff members.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure quality and completion of all custodial assignments.
  • Prepare maintenance logs and daily inspection reports.
  • Complete required documentation related to hazardous spills, including Blood borne Pathogens forms.
  • Apply correct procedures for mold remediation and biohazard material handling.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and materials.
  • Clean, restock supplies, and sanitize various office environments.
  • Maintain consistent, on-site attendance as a fundamental job requirement.

Qualifications and Skills Needed

  • Comprehensive understanding of custodial trade procedures and standards.
  • Advanced skills operating custodial machinery and equipment.
  • Substantial knowledge of Safety Data Sheet protocols and cleaning chemical handling.
  • Capability to supervise and encourage custodial team members effectively.
  • Competence in using and maintaining power tools and hand tools assigned.
  • Advanced expertise in cleaning agents and their proper applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relations with colleagues and leadership.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information responsibly.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols for biohazard materials and mold remediation processes.

A formal degree is not a requirement. Candidates should be able to execute essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Depending on agency needs, this role may include supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation

The starting salary is generally $34,216 annually, subject to adjustment based on education and experience levels.
