Job description
Overview
Exceptional design transcends mere aesthetics by transforming complex information into engaging, clear, and easily navigable communication. We are searching for a skilled Brand Designer capable of distilling ideas, campaigns, presentations, and content into well-structured, hierarchical, and compelling visuals that resonate with our brand voice.
Joining the First Focus marketing team in New Zealand, you will contribute to a diverse array of creative projects including campaigns, presentations, reports, digital assets, events, proposals, and internal communications—ensuring our expanding brand consistently presents a confident and cohesive image.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with marketing colleagues and business stakeholders to interpret briefs and translate concepts into visually effective communication.
- Develop B2B marketing materials that challenge traditional blandness by crafting captivating campaign and digital assets.
- Design sales presentations, detailed proposals, reports, ebooks, guides, and other extended content formats to engage audiences effectively.
- Create graphics for social media platforms and company websites.
- Produce event collateral and supplementary campaign creative materials.
- Deliver polished internal communication and branding resources.
- Build and enhance templates within PowerPoint and Word to ensure ease of use and brand consistency.
- Translate intricate information into visually clear stories rather than simply fitting content to space.
- Work collaboratively with teams across Sales, Client Services, leadership, and other departments to refine communication goals and visual strategy.
- Maintain and evolve the First Focus brand identity, balancing consistency with creativity as the company grows.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- A compelling portfolio showcasing proficiency in branding, typography, layouts, and visual communication. Portfolio submission is mandatory.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud and the creation of editable, high-quality production assets.
- Strong expertise in PowerPoint and Word design, vital for this role.
- Experience designing for the B2B sector with sensitivity to creating professional yet engaging and contemporary visuals.
- Ability to analyze copy and ideas to identify key messages, then visualize them clearly and simply.
- Comfortable collaborating based on briefs and brand guidelines to deliver tailored design outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders, probe concept clarity, and enhance ideas beyond initial briefs.
- Proficient use of generative AI as a supportive tool in creative workflows—not as a sole solution.
- Ideally, a minimum of three years’ experience within B2B graphic design, though portfolio quality outweighs strict tenure.
- Preference for candidates with in-house brand experience, familiar with preserving and evolving a brand over time.
- No formal design education required; exceptional work will always be prioritized over formal qualifications.
Use of AI in Design
We embrace generative AI as a means to fuel creative exploration. Candidates should adeptly use AI to generate concepts and imagery, then refine and complete designs using traditional design tools with judgement and craft. This role demands the ability to distinguish a rough AI-generated idea from a polished professional design asset.
