This role involves ensuring precise and controlled bookkeeping for a busy, project-driven business environment. You'll collaborate closely with the General Manager, the showroom team, an international finance group, and UK-based external accountants.
Key Responsibilities

- Handle purchase invoices and payments to suppliers.
- Track customer account balances and follow up on overdue payments.
- Perform reconciliations between customer relationship management (CRM) data and accounting records.
- Maintain accurate and current financial documentation.
- Perform routine bank reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly payroll tasks including calculating commissions and holiday pay.
- Support month-end and year-end financial processes.
- Coordinate with sales and operations teams to ensure invoicing and payments align with ongoing projects.
- Communicate effectively with the international accounting team on reporting needs and intercompany matters.
- Work in partnership with external accountants on VAT, corporation tax, and compliance with UK regulations.
- Keep financial records well-organised and prepared for audits.
- Evaluate and enhance existing financial workflows to improve efficiency and internal controls.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an individual with hands-on experience in bookkeeping or accounting—especially within industries like furniture, interiors, retail, luxury goods, or other customer-order-focused sectors. Candidates should bring:
- Strong foundational bookkeeping and accounting expertise.
- Familiarity with UK VAT, PAYE, and general accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting platforms such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and reliability in meeting deadlines independently.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial and commission information with discretion.
- Clear and professional communication abilities.
- Collaborative approach to working with sales, operations, management, and external professionals.
AAT or ACCA part-qualification is beneficial but not mandatory.
