Job description
Position Overview
The Bookkeeper role at PNG Pacific Capital Limited, located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, plays a vital role in maintaining accurate and timely financial records. Reporting to the Group Executive Manager within the Finance & Administration department, this position entails assisting with detailed financial record-keeping for daily income, expenses, payments, and banking activities supporting the company’s core operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Record all daily financial transactions including income, expenses, purchases, payments using the company’s accounting system.
- Maintain and update the general ledger and bookkeeping records meticulously.
- Carry out daily and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable systematically for all business activities.
- Generate customer invoices, receipts, and periodic statements.
- Input supplier bills and track outstanding payments to vendors.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial summaries for management review.
- Assist in compiling profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports.
- Ensure all financial entries are properly categorized under relevant accounting codes including income, expenses, assets, liabilities, equity, and cost-of-goods.
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguard all financial information related to the company.
- Perform other finance and administrative functions as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or closely related disciplines is preferred.
- Prior experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles is advantageous.
- Understanding of fundamental accounting principles and proficiency with double-entry bookkeeping is essential.
- Experience using accounting software like Zoho Books, Xero, MYOB, or similar platforms is beneficial.
- Competent with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for financial data management.
- Proven experience in bank reconciliation, managing accounts payable and receivable.
