About the Role
We seek a meticulous Bond Manager to oversee the management of bonded stock, excise and customs duties, and VAT at our Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) located in Magor, Wales. This pivotal position ensures compliance with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) regulations, upholds thorough audit records, and facilitates smooth management of duty-related operations across the site. You will collaborate closely with operational teams and the Central Customs & Excise Manager, monitoring bonding processes, managing duty declarations, implementing legislative changes, and offering expert advice on customs and excise matters. Ideal candidates will have a strong eye for detail, solid understanding of customs and excise laws, and a passion for accuracy and regulatory adherence.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accuracy and timely updates of the RDC Magor Mentor Master Files reflecting new regulations or data changes.
- Ensure all duty declarations and relevant document submissions to HM Revenue & Customs are precise and punctual.
- Comply fully with HMRC notices and instantly report any irregularities to the Central Customs and Excise Manager.
- Monitor all RDC Magor functions impacting tax payments, ensuring warehouse efficiency standards are upheld.
- Verify that reported stock shortages or surpluses upon arrival are properly endorsed on delivery warrants, completing EMCS E-AD movements.
- Apply legislative amendments at RDC Magor as directed.
- Maintain active communication with the Central Customs and Excise Manager regarding system issues, legislation changes, and HMRC contact.
- Keep the Duty Deferment Monitoring spreadsheet for RDC Magor up to date.
- Oversee the Stock Integrity Team's work on bonded products, such as damages, stock adjustments, and counts, and coordinate on any arising issues.
- Manage stock adjustments related to Chancellor's Budgets involving excise duty rate increases.
- Ensure good-in staff are adequately trained on the Locator/Mentor system for dutiable product intake.
- Promote awareness among all staff regarding HMRC regulations.
- Perform daily reconciliation reports on Locator/Mentor systems and escalate issues as necessary to management.
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of HM Revenue & Customs procedures and legislation.
- Familiarity with warehouse and transport operations.
- Expert, super-user proficiency in Mentor System usage.
- Excellent communication skills across organizational levels.
- Detail-oriented and methodical with numerical data and reporting.
