Role Overview

The Bobst 1st Helper in Production is responsible for preparing and assisting in operating slotter, feed section, and die cutters, ensuring machines are set up correctly and maintained for optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to local and company safety policies and guidelines, reporting any unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
• Set up slotter and feed sections on presses and die cutters accurately.
• Verify that all bolts securing cutting dies are properly tightened and in place.
• Inspect Anilox rolls for any damage.
• Support in achieving precise machine set-ups and monitor board quality for defects such as loose liners, warps, dimensional inconsistencies, and caliper deviations.
• Communicate board quality issues to machine operators and assist in sorting to maintain efficient machine operation.
• Perform operator assistance tasks as needed, keeping pace with machine operators.
• Be open to cross-training on additional machinery and progress into operator roles across all shifts.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workspace, including preventing sheets from accumulating on the floor.
• Complete and submit required reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
• Report maintenance requirements by submitting work orders to supervisors.
• Practice safe techniques involving lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending to prevent injuries and equipment damage.
• Observe all health and safety guidelines rigorously.
• Undertake other assigned duties or projects as required.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in the corrugated industry is preferred.
• At least six months’ experience in the Press or Finishing Department is desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret factory masters and instructions.
• Proficiency in reading tape measures quickly and accurately.
• Basic mathematical skills including calculating percentages, measurements, volumes, and rates aligned with high school level math.
• Capacity to understand and apply instructions provided in multiple formats.
• Problem-solving skills involving concrete variables in standardized settings.
• Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities to operate efficiently.
• Familiarity with product layout, production, and quality specifications.
• Skill in prioritizing tasks effectively and demonstrating urgency when needed.
• Ability to communicate relevant information effectively to management.

Work Schedule

The position operates Monday through Friday with current shifts from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM and presently extended to 5:30 PM.

Compensation

Hourly wage range between $16 to $19.
