Key Responsibilities

• Develop and design Body in White (BIW) components using 3D CAD tools like UG-NX or CATIA, including producing 2D drawings and applying GD&T standards.
• Prepare Scope of Requirements (SOR) by compiling inputs from home room and translating them into Manufacturing Group India (MGI) requirements, including drawings, advanced verification plans, 3D models, and standards.
• Support vehicle build trials by tracking progress, handling issues, performing root cause analyses, and implementing corrective actions from prototype through to production-ready vehicles.
• Coordinate material handling for trial and testing phases and liaise with relevant teams.
• Create design proposals in CAD focusing on value analysis/value engineering (VAVE) ideas, quality enhancements, and design improvements.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation including Bill of Materials (BOM), SOR, localization details, and issue resolution records.
• Conduct benchmarking and collaborate with home room teams to secure technical approvals.
• Monitor and update supplier tool development status, verify sample parts, and coordinate parts availability for vehicle assemblies through cross-functional team meetings.
• Address body design problems promptly with quick initial assessments and deep root cause investigations to ensure on-time resolutions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
• 6 to 10 years of professional experience specifically in Body in White (BIW) design and development.
• Experience working with OEMs is a valuable asset.
• Expertise in sheet metal materials, tooling, and manufacturing processes is essential.
• Capability in BOM creation and monitoring developmental progress.
• Prowess in planning and resolving tool development and process challenges.

Technical and Interpersonal Skills
