Bindery Specialist

Our close-knit team based in West Jordan is seeking a full-time Bindery Specialist to operate key finishing machinery for printed products.

Role Responsibilities

• Inspect bound and unbound product samples for flaws such as loose pages, ink blemishes, torn sheets, and defective bindings, requiring keen attention to detail.
• Interpret work orders to determine specifications and instructions for setting up machines.
• Install or adjust components on bindery equipment including knives, guides, rollers, rounding forms, creasing tools, and clamps to suit the size of sheets or books processed.
• Trim book edges to precise dimensions using cutting or book trimming machines.
• Apply stitching or adhesive to endpapers, bindings, backings, or signatures by operating glue machinery or manual methods.
• Oversee machine operations to identify malfunctions or the need for adjustments.
• Maintain daily production logs and other documentation using designated forms.
• Prepare finished products for shipment by wrapping, packing, and palletizing boxes appropriately.
• Activate or adjust machine components such as switches and conveyors to ensure efficient workflow.
• Perform other duties necessary to deliver superior quality customer service and product outcomes.

Candidate Qualifications

• Strong logical reasoning and critical thinking to assess various solutions and approaches effectively.
• Excellent verbal communication skills to convey information and ideas clearly to others.
• Ability to apply general principles to specific situations to derive sensible conclusions.
• Proficiency in organizing actions or items following specific rules or patterns.
• Spatial visualization skills to conceptualize rearrangements and movements of components.
