About The Role

The Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa, located in East Grinstead, West Sussex, is seeking a Linen Porter to join their dedicated Housekeeping team. This role involves supporting the Housekeeping Assistants by managing linen supplies and ensuring guest corridors remain tidy, contributing to a flawless guest experience.

Primary Responsibilities

• Replenish linen cupboards along guest corridors with clean sheets, pillowcases, duvets, and towels.
• Assist in stripping beds on busy days to prepare rooms for cleaning and re-lining by housekeeping staff.
• Collect and remove soiled linen from guest rooms and corridors efficiently.
• Use in-house laundry machines as part of the linen processing operations.
• Organize and pack linen for collection by external laundry service providers.
• Receive laundry deliveries daily, inspecting and separating any damaged or rejected items for return.
• Sort and segregate rejected linen from usable stock to maintain quality control.

Candidate Requirements

• Physically robust with no history of back issues to safely manage lifting and carrying of linen.
• Energetic individual capable of maintaining a steady work pace.
• Familiarity with safe lifting methods to prevent injury.
• Presentable and mindful of guest interactions to represent the hotel professionally.

Working Conditions and Benefits

• Employment is full-time with 34.5 hours per week, scheduled across five days including weekend shifts; shifts earliest start at 8:00 am and finish by 4:30 pm.
• Annual salary of £22,801.74 plus a monthly service charge payment.
• Entitlement to 4 weeks of holiday annually, increasing to 5 weeks with tenure, plus 8 bank holidays.
