Job description
Role Overview
The Infrastructure BIM Modeler is accountable for creating, updating, and preserving precise civil and infrastructure BIM models and related deliverables. All work must align with sanctioned project BIM standards, engineering drawings, specifications, survey inputs, and project goals. The role advances BIM coordination, supports production of shop and construction drawings, assists in as-built model revisions, quantity take-offs, and digital handover under the direction of BIM and technical management teams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create and maintain civil and infrastructure BIM models based on approved project standards, naming, coordinates, and levels.
- Model diverse infrastructure components such as roads, pavements, kerbs, walkways, grading, earthworks, stormwater and sewerage systems, water supply, irrigation, telecom ducts, electrical duct banks, manholes, utility corridors, retaining walls, and associated external works.
- Generate Civil 3D-based surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, and pipe or pressure networks as dictated by project requirements.
- Maintain model integrity regarding accuracy, naming conventions, layering, styles, and required data.
- Revise models reflecting approved design amendments, RFIs, technical queries, site instructions, and comments.
- Produce a variety of drawings including plans, profiles, sections, details, schedules, utility and road layouts, grading plans, and shop/construction drawings ensuring coherence with the latest approved design versions.
- Engage in multidisciplinary BIM coordination processes, including clash detection and resolution using Navisworks Manage and Autodesk Construction Cloud tools.
- Work collaboratively with various engineering teams (Civil, Structural, MEP, Landscape, Roads, Utilities) to ensure model alignment.
- Manage survey coordinates, benchmarks, and incorporate approved survey data to ensure correct model positioning; highlight discrepancies among survey data, drawings, and site conditions.
- Support construction teams with coordinated shop drawings, RFIs responses, constructability reviews, and technical coordination.
- Update models post-construction to reflect as-built conditions using approved redlines, site mark-ups and verified records for accurate digital handover materials.
- Assist with quantity take-offs and maintain necessary model data parameters (e.g., work package, zone, construction phase, WBS references) supporting 4D/5D workflows where applicable.
- Conduct rigorous BIM quality assurance checks to identify and rectify modeling errors, duplications, coordinate inaccuracies, missing data, and naming or coordination conflicts per project BIM Execution Plan.
- Implement Common Data Environment protocols for document and model management, employing platforms like Autodesk Construction Cloud and Aconex.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by standardizing templates, styles, families, and leveraging digital workflows and tools to optimize modeling efficiency.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Transportation, Construction, or related fields.
- Between 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in infrastructure BIM modeling on large-scale projects encompassing roads, utilities, and construction sectors.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Proficient in interpreting civil/infrastructure engineering documentation including drawings, profiles, sections, and construction docs.
- Familiarity with BIM coordination practices, model QA/QC processes, and related software tools.
- Basic knowledge of international standards such as ISO 19650, as well as CDE workflows, Levels of Detail/Information Need (LOD/LOIN), and BIM deliverable protocols.
- Competency in understanding multidisciplinary drawings for coordination with structural, civil, and MEP teams.
- Effective English communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Preferred registration or eligibility with the Saudi Council of Engineers.
- Certifications in Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or Navisworks are considered an advantage.
- All academic degrees and certificates must be verifiable prior to employment commencement.
Software Proficiencies
- Essential: Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM Collaborate/Model Coordination, Microsoft Office.
