About UGL and the Role
UGL delivers engineering, construction, and maintenance services across various sectors such as rail, road and tunnel, oil and gas, power, renewables, resources, water, defence, and telecommunications in a dynamic environment. Positioned within the national Major Projects team, this role offers exposure to complex bid submissions across multiple sectors and opportunities to engage with key industry clients and partners. UGL's affiliation with the broader ACS Group opens potential career mobility across a vast international network of engineering and infrastructure firms. This role supports continued growth in significant infrastructure sectors like data centres, transport, and defence, playing a pivotal part in positioning UGL for some of Australia's most extensive infrastructure projects. The position is flexible to be based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the preparation and submission of tender proposals for assigned projects, managing the process from proposal submission to contract award.
- Develop and implement effective winning bid strategies to maximize success probabilities.
- Thoroughly review tender documents to understand the technical and commercial obligations UGL/CIMIC must adhere to.
- Perform risk assessments encompassing commercial, financial, legislative, and resource risks related to tenders.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with customers across appropriate organizational levels.
- Assess legislative, industrial, political, cultural, and economic factors that may affect contract performance.
- Coordinate gathering necessary information from engineering, suppliers, and HR to support bid submissions.
- Manage the preparation and distribution of requests for quotation.
- Assess subcontractor proposals for compliance, accuracy, and competitiveness.
- Set up an effective process to respond to customer inquiries regarding bids.
- Support development of regional, product, or opportunity capture strategies to enhance chances of success before RFT issuance.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure tender accuracy and feasibility.
- Establish systems to ensure smooth transition from proposal phase to contract initiation.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a tertiary qualification relevant to Commerce, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.
- Possesses extensive experience managing bids within the railway and infrastructure sectors, including tunneling, communications, data centres, and electrical projects.
- Deep understanding of tender and bid management, including commercial, contractual, financial, and legal aspects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, complemented by strong negotiation, influencing abilities, and capability to build effective relationships internally and externally.
