Since 2018, OCA has empowered Behaviour Support Practitioners to enhance their clinical skills and adopt best practices, facilitating professional growth through collaborative learning and purposeful practice. Our structure integrates local delivery with national systems, ensuring safety, consistency, and clinical excellence governed by robust frameworks.

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners endorsed at the Core, Proficient, or Advanced level, residing in Adelaide. In this role, you will positively impact people living with disability by supporting them and their support networks. Your efforts will focus on improving life quality, minimizing behaviours of concern, and advocating for disability rights.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with NDIS participants and their families or carers to assess needs and create person-centred plans
  • Establish meaningful objectives and practical intervention strategies based on The Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework, striving to eliminate restrictive practices in both home and community settings
  • Develop, implement, and review evidence-informed support plans within complex environments
  • Ensure that individual plans align with clients’ aspirations, interests, and strengths
  • Enhance the knowledge and competencies of clients' support networks, including families, carers, and friends

Support and Professional Development

  • Receive weekly one-on-one clinical supervision from seasoned Behaviour Support Practitioners and additional group supervision opportunities from the outset
  • Benefit from clinical leadership guidance for ongoing support and best practices
  • Engage in a comprehensive national onboarding and learning program focused on positive behaviour support roles and contexts
  • Participate in fortnightly educational sessions led by Advanced and Specialist practitioners and access a resource library exceeding 100 materials

Career Advancement

  • Collaborate with supervisors to create personalized Continuing Professional Development (CPD) plans and Supervision Agreements to support progression from Core or Proficient to Advanced levels
  • Receive mentorship and leadership guidance to develop specialized skills or leadership expertise, including case management
  • Opportunities to pursue internal leadership roles, short-term secondments, or adjunct positions within the organization

Candidate Profile

  • Current endorsement by the NDIS Commission at Core, Proficient, or Advanced level is mandatory
  • Proven experience with a registered provider delivering positive behaviour support
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong computer literacy and impeccable written communication skills
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle

Qualifications

A degree relevant to supporting individuals exhibiting behaviours of concern is highly desirable.
